Karina is aboard-certified nurse practitioner. She began her career as a registered nurse in a neurology unit at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in 2006 where she remained for 11 years. As her passion for Neurology grew, she pursued a Master in Science from NYU College of Nursing, graduating in 2015. She underwent clinical rotations at NYU Langone, Mt. Sinai Hospital, and NYU RUSK Acute Rehab Center for Brain Injury & Concussion.

As a board-certified adult gerontology acute care nurse practitioner, Karina has worked at NYU Langone with the neurosurgery department, The Valley Hospital as a neurology nurse practitioner and also as a hospitalist. She has also worked in the outpatient setting with a neurology group in Bergen County. In addition, she has teaching experience as an adjunct clinical instructor where she led NYU nursing students through clinical rotations at New York Presbyterian/Columbia University Hospital.

Karina has focused her career in the outpatient neurology setting where she is able to continue pursuing her passion in providing holistic and evidenced based neurological care.

Karina treats general neurological disorders with a focus on neuromuscular disorders under the wing of Dr. Stephanus Busono. She also treats adult ADHD.

Karina is affiliated with The Valley Hospital and is a member of the American Academy of Neurology.

She is also fluent in Portuguese and conversational Spanish.
